PARIS, April 30, 2010 (AFP) – The CSF team (2nd division) has an advantage over the peloton at the Giro d’Italia with its two leading Italians, climber Domenico Pozzovivo, and sprinter Sacha Modolo, which begins May 8 in Amsterdam.
Pozzovivo (27 y.o.), the super lightweight (1.65 m to 53 kg) won the stage to Alpe di Pampeago in the recent Tour of Trentino. “He showed he was currently the best Italian climber,” stated the manager Bruno Reberberi.
Modolo, neo-pro at 22 y.o, has proved himself this season by taking 4th place in Milan-Sanremo.
The CSF team at the Giro:
Manuel Belletti (ITA), Alessandro Bisolti (ITA) Federico Canuti (ITA), Marco Frapporti (ITA), Stefano Pirazzi (ITA), Alan Marangoni (ITA), Sacha Modolo (ITA), Domenico Pozzovivo (ITA), Simone Stortoni (ITA).

GENEVA, April 30, 2010 (AFP) – Australians Michael Rogers and Richie Porte upset the leader board in the third stage of Tour de Romandie on Friday, as Porte sped to surprise stage win while Rogers took over the yellow jersey.
Porte, a former triathlete, left second-placed Alejandro Valverde, one of the race favourites, 26 seconds behind in the 23.4 km time trial.
Rogers took over the overall lead after finishing fourth behind Russian Vladimir Karpets.
Porte took advantage of changing weather at the western Swiss town of Moudon as rain showers moved in.
“I can’t believe it, I was 30 seconds down on some pretty big names after the check but the wind must have changed,” the Tasmanian said after wards
“It’s a massive surprise for me.
“I crashed in the prologue on the first corner but I knew I had good form.”
The changes in the overall standings sets the stage for a thrilling weekend of racing over the mountains.
Valverde was just two seconds behind Rogers in the overall standings, followed by a Russian trio of Karpets, Artem Ovetschkin and Denis Menchov, the reigning Tour of Spain champion. Porte is seventh 17 seconds behind the leader.
The stage marked a big setback for the Liquigas steam, which had dominated the race until Friday.
Peter Sagan lost the yellow jersey and was far behind, along with Italy’s former Giro d’Italia winner Ivan Basso and the 2009 Tour de Romandie winner Roman Kreuziger.
British rider Mark Cavendish, of the HTC-Columbia team, meanwhile issued an apology Friday for the defiant, two-finger gesture that accompanied his victory on stage two.
“I did want to make a statement to my critics but I realize that making a rude gesture on the finish line is not the best way to do that,” said Cavendish.
“I apologize to everybody watching the race and especially the kids. I am not proud of releasing the feelings in that way.
“I hope I can redeem myself and show my feelings and passion for cycling with some exciting results in the next couple of months rather than with gestures such as the one yesterday.”

Posted: April 30th, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: Bicycles | No Comments »30-Apr-2010: Emma Pooley (GBR) won another convincing victory today at the GP Suisse. In fact, the women of Cervélo TestTeam dominated the race with all five members of today’s squad finishing in the top 15. Pooley had formidable competition with Judith Arndt (GER-HTC-Columbia) taking second and Jeannie Longo (FRA) placing third.
The GP de Suisse/Souvenir de Magali Pache, part of the Tour de Romandie program, consists of an individual time trial on a 23.4 km long course in a race against the clock.
“I felt real bad this morning, kind of shaky and normally I am not too nervous before a time trial,” said Emma Pooley, following her victory today. “I thought I was still tired from training. After Fléche Wallonne I was training really hard for the Tour d’Aude that’s coming so I thought maybe it wouldn’t go so well today. I didn’t want to start the race I felt so bad I thought I was going to have a really bad day. But sometimes it’s worth trying. I didn’t really know how I was doing because I rode today without a power meter. Sometimes it’s better to do it by feel. I could see I was catching some people on the climb, but it’s not just the climb there’s the descent and the flat part so that doesn’t mean very much because you don’t know how the other people are doing, you don’t know how well the people behind you are doing. In a time trial I prefer to concentrate just on my own speed so I can ride by feel. Philippe Mau was really good in the car he was quite encouraging and positive though I think he got a bit frustrated with me on the corners. Overall I’m really pleased.”

<>
I am selling my Giant Boulder 520 mountain bike.
<>
<>
Overall, the bike is in pretty good shape, however it does need some minor work to make it ride-able.
<>
The main issue that it has is, it doesn’t catch in any gear, and will not move forward. I have been told that this isn’t that big of an issue, and can be fixed easily.
<>
<>
This would be a nice bike, for the right person, willing to put some work into it. I’m hoping to find it a good home.
